Barefoot TEFL Teacher
I’m David Weller – an ELT manager, teacher and an insatiable coffee drinker.
Nice to meet you.
I moved to China to teach in 2003, and am still here. I’ve been a teacher, an academic manager and a regional manager for a large language training organisation. I’ve completed Trinity’s Diploma in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), and a Master’s in TESOL from Sheffield Hallam university in the UK.
I think it’s fair to say that I’m going to be a TEFL ‘lifer’.
SO WHY ‘BAREFOOT TEFL TEACHER’?
Barefoot because I want to stay firmly grounded in the real world. I want to share ideas and provoke discussions that are more practical than theoretical.
TEFL because I love this industry. It’s given me both a career and a passion.
Teacher because that’s who this is for. There are articles here for teacher trainers and academic managers, sure, but your focus will always come back to the essentials – teachers and students.
Plus, it sounds cool
This blog might be my soapbox to stand on, but it gets boring shouting at the world. I’d love it if you shout back. Please share your thoughts in the comments after an article, or email me
Thanks for listening, and good teaching!
